Transition towards the 40-Hour weekly work schedule

The President of Mexico announced that work tables will be opened to implement the 40-hour work week, in agreement with workers, the business sector and unions, with the intention of gradually reducing the working week, which currently has a maximum limit of 48 hours a week, to reach a working day of 40 hours per week by January 2030.
Through the Secretariat of Labor and Social Welfare, all interested parties were invited to a series of forums and working groups in various cities across the country. These sessions will begin on June 2 and conclude on July 7 of this year, with the aim of reaching a consensual plan for how the reduction of the workweek will be implemented.
From Zubieta & Landa, Elizondo Abogados, we invite our clients to initiate a transition process within their companies, and depending on the sector, to complete this process by no later than 2030. Each sector and industry is different and has unique needs, so it will be necessary to consider elements related to the automation of operations and boosting efficiency levels without compromising the quality of products and services. Additionally, this amendment presents an opportunity to modernize operations and improve the quality of life for our collaborators, without sacrificing profitability or efficiency.
We remain at your service for advice and assistance in implementing these new obligations. If you require additional information, please contact us.
